Established in 2020, Barton Eye Care became the first female doctor owned optometric practice in the Century Center Plaza located in the heart of Alexandria since 1984. Combining Dr. Becky's passion for eye health and commitment to customizable, quality products for maximum vision - the team at Barton Eye Care are dedicated to you the patient every step of the way.

A Note From Dr. Becky
I wish I could say my love for eyes began in 3rd grade when I got my first pair of glasses after my teacher expressed some concern to my mom. That would be a fib. I was the first in my family and among my neighborhood best friends to become "four eyes." While I didn’t particularly enjoy going to the eye doctor, I vividly remember the mix of excitement and angst each year when picking out a new pair of glasses.
Junior high brought new challenges, as my parents quickly realized that glasses and basketball don’t mix well. That’s when I had my first fitting with contact lenses, a game-changer for my athletic activities.
Fast forward to college at St. Cloud State University, where I pursued my passion for business and entrepreneurship. As graduation approached, I pondered my future career. My dad always said, "Find something you love so you never have to work a day in your life." I knew I loved working with and caring for people. Then, my mom suggested Optometry. My initial reaction was skeptical: "Huh? Which is better, one or two? Every day? All day? No thank you!" However, after shadowing a few local practices, I discovered a whole other side to the profession. It was then I decided to make Optometry FUN!
During my four years of graduate studies in Boston, I experienced the profession in various settings. I worked in primary eye care, specialized care, the VA health system, pediatrics, alongside Ophthalmologists performing surgeries, and even on a bus serving underserved populations. In 2012, following graduation, I was thrilled to bring my skills and passion back home to Minnesota.
Barton Eye Care is a dream come true. I get to work with patients of all ages, including families spanning generations. I combine routine care with the medical side of ocular health, including co-management. As both doctor and owner, I am blessed to follow my patients from start to finish on their eye care journey, ensuring they receive top-notch services and products.

Meet Dr. Becky
Dr. Becky received her undergraduate degree from St. Cloud State University in Business Management in 2008. After spending four years on the East Coast, she graduated from The New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA in 2012. Primary eye care has always been her passion with a love for being able to care for the patient as a whole. In 2019, Dr. Becky made Alexandria her home where she lives with her two boys Henry and Alex.
